[Event] Great Day with Bungasari at SIAL Interfood 2016

Great Day, Everyone!

Last Friday was my first time ever to visit a Food and Beverage Industry Exhibition, SIAL Interfood 2016. It was such a pleasant experience, and I think this is the most entertaining exhibition I've ever been! (Especially because Bungasari was there :D)

So, what is SIAL Interfood 2016? It is a collaboration between two strong powers in the food and beverage industry. SIAL GROUP, the world’s largest food exhibition network with 50 years of experience and INTERFOOD, the leading food and beverage exhibition in Indonesia, running for 14 years. The exhibition was held by SIAL Group and Krista Exhibitions from 09 – 12 November 2016 at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Indonesia.

There are two ways to enter this exhibition, by Online Register or On-The-Spot, which I suggest you to register online because it's FREE, while you have to pay IDR 150K for OTS ticket.

Oh, I came in the third day of the exhibition which was weekday, and it was crowded! Wow, I can't believe the enthusiasm of the visitors.

By the way, one of the reason I went to this exhibition was because of Bungasari Flour Mills. Huh?
Well, I heard from my friends who went there since the first day that Bungasari are doing Cooking Demos and giving a lot of FREE Food Samples (Oopss.. haha), it excites me because I know that Bungasari has a lot of great products which means they will make great foods, to try of course :p
If you want to know more about Bungasari, you can check my previous post Baking Class with Bungasari.

Other than their three-main-products, which are Bola Salju, Golden Eagle, and Hana Emas, they also presented their newly-released products, Kabuki and Niji in this event. There are 2 variants of Kabuki, and the Super Premium Quality one is Kabuki Gold which is really suitable to make great-taste breads.

It was an easy-peasy to find Bungasari booth in Hall D because I think this is the most glorious booth in that Hall. Their concept is a Japanese traditional castle, because you know that they're from japan, even one of the slogan is 'Japan Quality Flour', that's what I always heard from their funny MC, Tony Wahyudi, during the event. And also, they started the event by dancing PPAP (Pen Pinapple Apple Pen) that attracted visitors attention.

In this third day, Bungasari was cooperating with Trisakti School of Tourism, one of the leading Tourism University in Jakarta, in order to support young Chefs in Indonesia. They showed a demo baking to make Japanese Choux and Ã‰clair, I tried the samples (of course!) and it tasted reallyyyyy good, especially with cheese cream filling *drooling*

Right after that, they served me, I mean the visitors with a super yummy Ramen, and the sample wasn't just a tiny bowl but a BIG BOWL :O How can I leave their booth after such delicate samples?

Stay tune! They still have another Demo cooking, Acrobatic Pizza, you didn't missread it, it really is ACROBATIC. They invited Chef Sekiguchi from Pizza Doki, a specialist in Acrobatic Pizza. He can throw the pizza dough to the upside, left, right or wherever he wants without breaking it. Just check the picture below if you don't believe me :p

Oh, I also tried their Takoyaki, it was so delicious that I ate more than 5 balls. Sorry +GulanyaGulali  and @jajanbeken that I ate your portion lol.

Well, after I've had enough with the foods from Bungasari, I went around the exhibition for like the whole day. I was planning to go back home but suddenly it's raining soooo..... I went back to Bungasari booth and enjoy their Takoyaki again 😅

Anyway, that was the most interesting exhibition that I've ever been, like I told you in the beginning of the post. I can't wait to visit it again next year, exactly on 22 - 25 November 2017!

So everyone, see you next year at SIAL Interfood 2017!

[Event] NHK World TV in Jakarta!

Who doesn't know Japan?

From my previous (and previous) post, you might've known that I'm a bit of a Japan lover, and yes I admit it. I love their culture, music, foods, movies, games, etc. And luckily, I got a chance to visit this country in October 2014, which I really grateful of. Even until now, I'm still dreaming of going back there.

The purpose of my visit to Japan was to learn about their Communication Media, which includes Newspaper and TV, and I got a chance to visit one of their TV Station which was really fun. And suddenly, I heard a news that one of TV Station from Japan finally airs in Jakarta! What is it? Yes, it's NHK World TV, from one of Japan's largest broadcasting organization!

Let me tell you, NHK World TV is an English-language television service for viewers all over the world. They provide the very latest information from Japan, Asia and the rest of the world, as well as a wide variety of programming, 24 hours a day. As of January, 2014, NHK World TV is available to 273 million households in more than 140 countries /regions through local satellite services and cable service providers etc. Great, isn't it?

So, to announce their existence in Indonesia (especially Jakarta), they held some events around Jakarta. The one that I visited was BIG DOMO in Grand Indonesia, September 12th, 2016 which was a holiday! It was a really fun event, I can take a photo with BIG DOMO (a super cute mascot from NHK World!), got a Free Domo Sticker, also seeing Cosplayers walking around the booth, you can take a photo with them :D

Well, what can you see on NHK Wold TV? I think it's almost everything about Japan, such as NHK Newsline, J-Melo (musics), NHK Documentary, J-Trip Plan, Dining with Chef, and a lot more! What's more, you can enjoy them with just a Smartphone, yes, you don't have to bring your TV everywhere, just download the App from Google Playstore or App Store.

On the apps, you can see their Live Streaming, and also choose your favorite shows to watch. Not enough? You can check their website NHK World, on here, you cannot just watch the TV Programs but also learn Japanese Language, learn about their Food & Culture, and many other features.

If you want to know more about NHK World TV, you can attend their upcoming events, check it from the picture below. And enjoy! (Don't forget to take a pic with Domo :D)

Be a King at Dimsum King, Manhattan Hotel

Dimsum, Dimsum and Dimsum!

There's a fact about me that most of my friends already know, yes, I'm a Dimsum-Lover!! Well, who doesn't?

I don't know when did it start, but ever since then, Dimsum is a must-eat food every month (for me lol). I've tried several Dimsum Restaurants in Jakarta, from the ones on the streets to the restaurant at Malls, and some of my friend just said "Why did you do that? Dimsums are just the same all over the place", oopss.. Definitely Incorrect! How do I know that? Let's talk about it while we review Dimsum King at Manhattan Hotel, Kuningan.

Before we talk about Dimsum King, let's find out a bit about Manhattan Hotel. Manhattan Hotel is a part of Sunlake Hotel Group, the group consist of 4 hotels that are Sunlake Hotel, Manhattan Hotel, Merlynn Park Hotel & Metro Hotel, the first three are located in Jakarta while Metro Hotel is in Semarang. Manhattan Hotel is a 5 star hotel located in Jl. Prof. Dr. Satrio Casablanca, Kuningan, not far from Kuningan City. You can easily find this place because it is next to Casablanca Tunnel, the famous one.

Manhattan Hotel is a new Hotel, and so does Dimsum King since this restaurant took place in the Hotel Building, precisely at 5th Floor. Since the first time you entered the place, you can feel the strong Chinese ambience, I mean it's more like Gong Xi Fat Choi decoration with the red lanterns hanging all over the place. But not just that, there are also some statues like Buddha & Guan Yin, and not to forget, Chinese Musics! A complete package, right? Anyway, Dimsum King is an All you cat eat restaurant! But not just Dimsum, you can also find Shabu-shabu and other Chinese foods :D

So, let's review the taste!

Chicken Shumai

This is my most favorite kind of dimsum, especially the one with prawn. Too bad this one only has chicken as the filling, and the taste was Ok, nothing really special, they should make another variant like Crab, maybe?

Chicken Feet

Second-most-favorite kind of Dimsum! Some people just hate it, but for me, this one is so yumm!! But one thing that sure, you have to eat this while hot (or at least warm lol).

Chicken & Prawn filling rolled in Beancurd skin

Seriously I don't know the shortest name in English haha, well, another most-favorite kind of Dimsum! If you don't really like steamed-Dimsum, you surely have to order this, I love the crunchiness and of course the prawn :9

Porridge

As I told you, they don't just serves Dimsum but also other Chinese foods like this one. Not only chicken topping, there's also crab mince as topping, an unusual option for me. Well the texture of the porridge is quite good, not too soft nor hard.

Shabu-Shabu

Another unusual option in an All-you-can-eat Dimsum restaurant, Shabu-shabu. There are 2 kind of broth, Tom Yum and Chicken. I tried the tom yum and the taste wasn't strong enough to be called Tom Yum. And the filling options are not much, mostly veggies. But for me, this Shabu-shabu option really adds the value of Dimsum King.

Fried Rice

As a Fried-rice lover, I honestly disappointed with the fried rice they served. It tasteless and less-filling, really not my cup of tea.

Desserts

For the desserts, they have some snacks and fruits that you can choose freely (of course! :p)

Overall, I like Dimsum King. But I think they still need some improvements, especially for the Fried Rice. And for IDR 129k (promotion rate), it is worth it. I recommend you to enjoy Dimsum King with your family or friends, because the ambience is warm and located in a strategic place. Or maybe you can have a Staycation in Manhattan Hotel? Such a good idea!

[Event] Baking Class with Bungasari Flour Mills & Indonesian Food Blogger!

Cake! Who doesn't love Cake?

There's even a saying..

"There's always a place for a Cake!" - Unknown

Wait.... or is it Dessert? Well, just let it be LOL

Allright! Back to the topic, as you can see something unusual here, yes, Baking Class! Exactly last week (Wed, 20th April 2016), I had a chance to join a baking class with Indonesian Food Blogger and Bungasari Flour Mills at Bungasari Innovation Center.

FYI, I officially resigned from my job to focus on my Undergraduate Thesis, so yeah weekdays are freedays!

It was an exciting experience for me, because baking wasn't really my thing but somehow I got really excited when I heard about that class (Just ask IDFB members if you don't believe it lol). Due to my super-busy life, I barely got a chance to try Baking because it usually takes so much time & effort, and it usually requires trial-and-error process. But my mom is (or was?) a good baker, she used to bake some Cakes & Cookies back when I was a kid, so Baking isn't a rare thing for me.

Now let's talk about Bungasari, I bet you guys already heard or even tried their product. As you can see from their name, Bungasari Flour Mills, yes, Flour! They produces various high-quality flours with unique name, that are Golden Eagle for the High Protein Flour, Bola Salju for the Medium Protein Flour, &  Hana Emas for the Low Protein Flour. They have different type of usage too, Golden Eagle is most suitable for Bread & Noodle, while Bola Salju is multipurpose, and Hana Emas is for Cake, Cookie & Biscuit. (I honestly just learned it at the Baking Class :o)

Today's cake recipe was Sachertorte, invented by Austrian Franz Sacher in Vienna, Austria. Well before it turns to History class, let's move to the next topic LOL. So, before the baking session began, There's a presentation about Bungasari, Flours, & Cakes from Chef Kelik & Chef Latief who laters became our guide.

Source: Dapurtetangga

In the first paragraph, I mentioned Bungasari Innovation Center. What is it and where?
As the commitment of Bungasari to educate the society about what & how to use Flours properly, they created an Innovation Center at Jl.Taman Pakubuwono 6 No.11, South Jakarta. In their Innovation Center, you can learn how to cook anything based on Flour such as Cake, Noodle, Cookie, etc (except Play-Doh XD). There are classess every weekend, or anytime you want, just contact them here. The location was easy to be found especially because it is not far from Senayan City. It looks like a house from the outside, with a big signage. But the inside is quite amazing! My eyes was shining so bright when I saw their equipments *x* They have such modern & clean equipments, can't wait to touch them #eh

The class started around 9:30am. We were divided into 3 groups with 5 persons each, me with Liza, Febriyan, Adin & Oline. My part mostly just disturbing my team (lol kidding) while Liza as The Baker, Adin as The Helper, Febriyan and Olin as the Photographer & Videographer. It was indeed an amazing time! I learned a lot from that baking class and the Chefs also gave us a hand tho, eh, a lot I guess haha!

The baking process wasn't easy, but thank God Liza (the Baking Foodie) was on my side. Even Febriyan said "You should take off you baking title if you failed on this one", nice words! *evillaugh* Well it's mostly laugh tho :D It took about 30mins to bake the cake and 30mins to cool it down, so while waiting we had lunch and took photos around.

Yay! It's time to decorate our cake! They gave us white & black chocolate bar, and some macarons (too bad I didn't get that). We are free to decorate our cake as we want, and after the decorating session, which was the final session, there was this surprise from Bungasari, they chose 2 Best Decorated Cakes and it went to..... jengjengjeng... Ms. Arni & Ms. Lia!! *applause*

This one is my cake, taste Yumm and full of chocolate! My families & friends loved it :9

No winning doesn't mean no learning, because I got a lot of new things to learn from this class!
I hope I can join another class from Bungasari Innovation Center, like real soon :)

Why am I blurred? Duh!

[Review] Let's Ngombe Kopi! with Bengawan Solo Coffee

Kulo nuwun ('Excuse me' in Javanese Language), How are you guys doing?

In the last November, I joined an event by Bengawan Solo Coffee called 'ONE FINE DAY with Bengawan Solo Coffee' in Kota Kasablanka, supported by OpenRice Indonesia & Bank Danamon. It was a fun event! I will tell you the details below.

I'm sure most of you guys already know Bengawan Solo Coffee, me and my friends usually shortened it as 'Bengsol', which is easier to call. Bengawan Solo Coffee started their first store at ITC Kuningan in May 2003, it was only take-away service at first but they grew bigger and bigger until they have more than 30 branches in six provinces in Indonesia, which are Jakarta, East Java, West Java, Yogyakarta, North Sumatera and Banten. Then, what makes Bengawan Solo Coffee special compared to its competitors(I don't have to mention it right..)?

First, Bengawan Solo Coffee is experienced in producing coffee for more than 30 years. Second, most of its coffee Ingredients are from Indonesia, wow! Third, some of the stores are open 24 hours! And last but not least, it tastes awesome!

Well that's a brief information about Bengawan Solo Coffee, now let's talk about the event.

The theme of this event is 'ONE FINE DAY with Bengawan Solo Coffee', means that we'll always have a fine day every time you enjoy Bengawan Solo products :p But that's not a lie, because every time I enjoy Java Avocado, it makes me feel like I'm in Heaven lol. Back to the event, there are lots of fine games to do, such as Quiz, Latte Art Tutorials, Instagram Photo Competition, and 3D Latte Art tutorials & competition.

Mr. Babay from David Roy Indonesia gave us the useful tutorials about Latte Art & 3D Latte Art, he is a professional Barista with an excellent hand and taste of art! He makes it looks easy while we were struggling so hard to make a proper 3D Latte Art, but Thank God my team won the 3D Latte Art Competition (sadly I don't have the photo) lol.

Anyway, don't you curious about their Coffees and other drinks?

I said 'Other drinks' because they don't just serve Coffee, but also the other kind of drinks and foods as well! There are 4 variants of products they serves, Espresso Based Coffee, Non-Coffee, Ice Blended, and Finger foods, but in some stores you can find Main Course foods.

For the Espresso based Coffee, I put Vietnamese Milk Coffee on my top list and Java Avocado for the Ice Blended because it taste awesome for sure! You can actually feel the avocado taste in the first sip :9

For the Non-Coffee list, I like their Tea Tarik and Assorted Tea Line because they use Dilmah Tea. My favorite Finger foods from Bengawan Solo Coffee is their Sate Pisang, too bad that I haven't had the chance to try their main course, so far I know they serves Javanese Ramen, Java Steak, etc.

Other than the menu they serves, I also like their store. First thing is the comfy Sofa, and the second most important is Electrical outlet LOL, Sssstttt I've ever stayed the night at Bengawan Solo Cofee :D

FYI, cooperating with Bank Danamond, they held a program called "Danamon Coffee for Free". You can get minimum discount of 50%, 75% or even 100% (FREE) with just using Danamond Card. Wow!

What are you waiting for? Visit the nearest Bengawan Solo Coffee and enjoy the authenticness. Let's Ngombe Kopi! #NgombeKopi
